POULET LAQUE

Poulet laque is a delicious Chinese-inspired glazed chicken dish. The chicken is marinated in a flavorful mixture of soy sauce, honey, and spices, then roasted until golden and tender. It's a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and umami flavors, with a beautiful lacquered finish.

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions:

Add garlic, ginger, soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and black pepper to a bowl

Together, mix them well

Put the chicken in a big plastic bag that can be closed again and again, and then pour the marinade over it

Put the bag in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight to marinate

Before you start cooking, heat the oven to 375F 190C

Put the chicken on a roasting rack that is set over a baking sheet after taking it out of the marinade

Throw away the rest of the marinade

Put the chicken in an oven that has already been heated for an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes, or until a meat thermometer reads 165F 74C inside

After the chicken is done, take it out of the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes

Finally, cut it into pieces

Before serving, top with chopped green onions and sesame seeds
